Department of Research:
Collaborative Project |
Consortium for
Development Parternships (CDP)
Founded in 2004,
CDP is a unique collaborative network that brings together
academic and policy institutions from Africa, Europe and North
America. Its members work together to conduct research and
capacity building projects aimed at advancing the development of
the African continent. The resulting Consortium for Development
Partnerships represents a response to the slow pace of economic
development, democratization and conflict resolution in many
African countries. By pooling the resources of a wide range of
institutions with common interests, it is envisaged that the
Consortium will make available to several African countries a
wide range of the skills and expertise needed to produce
important information, strengthen capacity and achieve positive
change. There are currently fifteen research centres and
universities. This network of institutions is aimed at enabling
individual researchers to benefit from international interaction
while remaining principally engaged in their home countries.
