Trade Uniouns and
the Social Economic Policies in Africa (CODESRIA-OATUU)
The African
continent is going through a momentous period in its history.
This requires the harnessing of the collective energies of all
institutions committed to a project of social justice, equality
and progress in the region and elsewhere in the world. In order
to capture the spirit of the time, this collaborative project
has among others, the aim of facilitating regular and effective
networking between Africa’s socially engaged scholars and like
minded representatives of African workers committed to the
establishment of more just economies and societies in Africa. It
also aims at intervening and engaging in the central debates of
the day on Africa’s development. This collaboration will also
seek to undertake joint outreach policies with a view to
shaping, influencing and re-directing policy in Africa, produce
well-documented social histories of Africa through a critical
reading of the activities of the African labour movement and the
life experiences of great African labour militants and trade
union leaders.
