The CODESRIA Charter was adopted, in its present form, during the 11th General Assembly held from 6 to 10 December 2005 in Maputo, Mozambique.

The CODESRIA 2007 – 2011 Strategic Plan is conceived as part of a novel perspective planning approach designed to run over a period of 25 years from 2007 to 2032 and structured to signpost some of the key institutional targets which the Council would require to work towards at different phases of its growth and development.

The report evaluates CODESRIA, the Council for the Development of Social Science Research in Africa, with headquarters in Dakar for the period 2000–2006. It speaks of consolidation and renewal, underscoring a remarkable comeback after a crisis of external and internal legitimacy that marked the late 1990s.
