In its commitment to support the creation of a true community of social sciences and humanities researchers in Africa, CODESRIA attaches great importance to organising a wide range of events that allow scholars, researchers, and African intellectuals to share, discuss and connect on a diversity of issues and create new networks or revitalise existing ones.
The various conferences organised by CODESRIA are essential to creating and strengthening the intellectual community of African social sciences and humanities researchers. However, these conferences are intended as forums to meet and interact with other members of organised African societies ranging from policy-makers to representatives of civil society. In addition, they are also opportunities to bring together community members operating on the continent with those in the diaspora, and with members of the worldwide community of social sciences and humanities researchers, including those in Latin America and Asia.
These conferences result in the publication of volumes which were selected after passing through the peer review process.
