
Since the launch of a thirty conferences and national and regional consultations on academic freedom have been organized throughout the different regions of Africa, with a number of participants ranging from 40 to 100 people at each meeting held.
Such meetings used to publicize the importance intellectual freedom, and proved to be a tool appropriate to remove the barriers between the state and intellectuals. The results of this series of dialogues have subject of several publications in book form, including " Universities and academic freedom in the Democratic Republic of Congo "and" Academic Freedom and Social Responsibilities of Academics in Tanzania "are more recent examples.
