Our goal is to give you all the information you need about the General Assembly. In addition to the website, CODESRIA offers a daily newsletter which will highlight and over view the activities of the General Assembly.

About 650 academ-ics, researchers and intellectuals , coming from differ-ent regions of Afri-ca, Europe, Asia, and Americas are present at the 13th General Assembly of the of the Council for the Develop-ment of Social Sci-ence Research in Africa (CODESRIA).
From today, Mon-day 5 December 2011 to Friday 9 De-cember , 2011, the intelligentsia com-posed of academ-ics, researchers and intellectual from Africa and the Diaspora will focus on the theme "Africa and the Challenges of the 21st Century"
Officials from Mo-rocco, Senegal and DR Congo will speak at the open-ing ceremony. This will be followed by the Keynote Ad-dress of the Gen-eral Assembly which will be deliv-ered by Professor Amadou Mahtar Mbow, former Di-rector General of UNESCO and a dis-tinguished member of the Moroccan Royal Academy.
Fifteen Plenary ses-sions, six big con-ferences, twenty-five roundtables, thirty-two parallel sessions. In total 250 papers selected from 950 received by the scientific committee will be presented at this As-sembly by high pro-file scholars and re-searchers. This is the first CODESRIA General Assembly to be held in North Af-rica, which is in keeping ideals of bridging regional and linguistic barri-ers that divide
