The Kenya Association of Deans of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences (KADHESS) was officially launched on the 28th June, 2012 at Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST), in Kakamega Town. The function, which coincided with the MMUST 4th International Annual Conference, was presided over by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kenya, Right Honourable Raila Amollo Odinga, and witnessed by among others, Kenya’s Minister for Planning and Vision 2030, Hon. Wycliffe Oparanya, MMUST Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Barasa C.C. Wangila, CODESRIA Executive Secretary Dr. Ebrima Sall, and a Member of CODESRIA Executive Committee, Prof. K. Inyani Simala. The ceremony was attended by 35 Deans from both Public and Private Universities in Kenya. Dr. Sall addressed the Deans and emphasized the promise of Social Sciences in tackling challenges of development in Africa. KADHESS is committed to the development, advancement, continuous improvement and to the promotion of informed public discourse regarding Humanities, Education and Social Sciences in Kenya and beyond.
