The VII South-South Institute started on the 3rd of November 2014 in the capital city of Bangkok, Thailand. Organized by the Latin American Council of Social Sciences (CLACSO), in collaboration with the Council for the Development of Social Science Research in Africa (CODESRIA) and the International Development Economic Associates (IDEAs), on the theme Inequality, Democracy and Development under Neoliberalism and beyond; the 2014 Institute will last till the 8th of November 2014. The Institute brings together thirty young scholars from Asia, Africa and Latin America, ten (10) from each region. The underlying objective of the South-South Institute is to offer advanced research training to participants on various key issues relevant to the South, and the theoretical and methodological perspectives that might be appropriate for gaining a full understanding of the specific situation of the countries and peoples located outside the core of the international system such as it is presently structured.
