Number of visits: 754The Council for the Development of Social Science Research in Africa organized an international conference on youth unemployment in Harare in collaboration with the African Institute of Agrarian Studies on 26th and 27th in Harare, Zimbabwe About 50 researchers and scholars from universities, research centres and civil society organizations from 13 countries attended this meeting. The conference was organized around 5 panels that focused on the evolution of youth unemployment in Africa (scale, indicators of measure, conceptual and analytical frameworks, profile of unemployed, etc.). It highlighted the social, political, economic and institutional effects of youth unemployment in African countries and also the coping strategies adopted by youth and their communities. The presentations reflected on state responses to youth unemployment and proposed recommendations for better dealing with the problem.
