PhD in Socioloy (Coimbra), graduation and post-graduation in History and Development Studies. Researcher at the Centre of African Studies, Eduardo Mondlane University, Maputo, Mozambique, since 1980, teaching graduation and pos-graduation courses. Coordinates the Department of Development Studies and Gender.
Member of CODESRIA Executive Committee since 2015. Co-founder of Women and Law in Southern Africa Research and Education Trust, WLSA regional (1988) and WLSA Mozambique (1990) and its national coordinator, 1990-95. WLSA Mozambique Board President since 2015. Co-founder of Fórum Mulher, Fórum Mulher Board President, 1993- 2000; 2006-2015. Member of Parliament on behalf of Frelimo party, 1995-99. Coordinator of the 14º Women’s Word Congress September 2020, Maputo.
