The Scientific Committee is the organ of CODESRIA that is responsible for the scientific evaluation of CODESRIA programs and contributes to the development of the Council’s scientific agenda. The Committee also contributes to the implementation of programmes and activities of the Council to materialise the strategic plan set by the General Assembly. It is made up of 12 members appointed by the Executive Committee, and ratified by the General Assembly. The Executive Secretary serves as an ex-officio member. The appointment of members of the Committee takes into account gender, generational, sub-regional, and linguistic and disciplinary diversity of the African social science community.
